The Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev shared a post on his personal “Twitter” account on the occasion of January 24 - International Day of Education. The Minister wrote: “While global education in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic solely, learners and educators in Azerbaijan was also overwhelmed by the attack of Armenia that resulted in 20 teachers and 10 schoolchildren killed, 16 students injured, and 60 schools destroyed.”
The Minister also added to the tweet a photo of the Realni school in the city of Shusha before and after the Armenian occupation.
It should be noted that famous Azerbaijani writers Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev and Yusif Vezir Chemenzeminli graduated from this school.
After the occupation of Shusha in May 1992, Armenian vandals set fire to the Realni school and turned it into ruins.
